When Metronome is the right choice
Plenty of companies should run Metronome.
If your core challenge is metering very high event volumes with complex dimensional pricing, and you have the engineering capacity to own the billing logic,
Metronome is built for exactly that. Its customer list (OpenAI, Anthropic, Databricks, Confluent, Nvidia) tells you what it's good at: infrastructure-heavy and product-led companies whose usage data is the hard part. Now that it's part of Stripe, the metering side will likely get tighter integration with Stripe Payments over time.
If usage is your whole billing problem and engineers own it, Metronome fits. The question is what happens when usage stops being the whole problem.

What's a good alternative to Metronome?
